The first week of TATA IPL 2026 has delivered everything fans dreamed of — record-shattering chases, a teenage sensation, vintage Rohit Sharma, and three teams already establishing dominance. Here is your complete guide to every match played in the opening week of Season 19.

🏏 Week 1 Stats: 9 matches · 3 teams unbeaten · 5 totals above 200 · Highest match aggregate: 444 (MI vs KKR) · Youngest fifty-maker in IPL history: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (15 years old)

MATCH 1 — RCB vs SRH · Mar 28, Bengaluru

Result: RCB 203/4 beat SRH 201/9 by 6 wickets (26 balls remaining)

The defending champions opened IPL 2026 with a statement victory. New Zealand debutant Jacob Duffy — filling in for the injured Josh Hazlewood — dismantled SRH's top order with figures of 3/22, removing Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Nitish Kumar Reddy inside the powerplay.

SRH's stand-in skipper Ishan Kishan fought back brilliantly with 80 off 38 balls, and Aniket Verma added a rapid 43 off 18, but 201/9 wasn't enough. Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 26 — his fastest IPL fifty) and Virat Kohli (69* off 38) chased down 202 in just 15.4 overs — the fastest 200+ chase in IPL history.

"Even 250 wasn't going to be enough tonight. RCB are playing like defending champions."

MATCH 2 — MI vs KKR · Mar 29, Mumbai

Result: MI 224/4 beat KKR 220/4 by 6 wickets (5 balls remaining)

Another night, another record chase. Rohit Sharma wound back the clock with a breathtaking 78 off 38 balls (his fastest IPL fifty, off just 23 balls), while South African opener Ryan Rickelton thumped 81 off 43. The pair put on 148 runs in 71 balls for the opening wicket — MI's highest successful IPL chase ever.

KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane had set the stage with 67 off 40, and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi cracked 51 off 29. But MI's firepower was unstoppable. Shardul Thakur claimed 3/39 on MI debut to win Player of the Match.

The match aggregate of 444 runs is the highest ever between MI and KKR in IPL history.

MATCH 3 — RR vs CSK · Mar 30, Guwahati

Result: RR 128/2 beat CSK 127 all out by 8 wickets

This was the match that introduced Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to the world. The 15-year-old RR opener smashed 52 off just 17 balls — including 5 sixes and 4 fours — bringing up the fastest fifty by a teenager in IPL history. RR raced to 74/0 in the powerplay and chased down 128 in cruise control.

CSK were demolished by Jofra Archer (2/19), Nandre Burger (2/26), and Ravindra Jadeja (2/18) — who made an immediate impact against his former franchise. Only Jamie Overton (43 off 36) showed resistance as CSK crumbled to 127 all out.

👶 Record Alert: At 15 years and 107 days, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to score a fifty in IPL history, smashing 52 off just 17 deliveries!

MATCH 4 — PBKS vs GT · Mar 31, Mullanpur

Result: Punjab Kings beat Gujarat Titans

Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings got off to a winning start, with Cooper Connolly impressing on debut and contributing handy runs. GT's bowling lacked bite, and PBKS chased down the target with relative comfort.

MATCH 5 — LSG vs DC · Apr 1, Lucknow

Result: DC 142/4 beat LSG 141 by 6 wickets

Sameer Rizvi announced himself with a match-winning 70 not out, steering DC to a comfortable chase after LSG's batting misfired. Lucknow never built momentum and were restricted to 141. Rizvi's calm innings under pressure marked him as one to watch this season.

MATCH 6 — KKR vs SRH · Apr 2, Kolkata

Result: SRH 226/8 beat KKR 161 — SRH won by 65 runs

SRH posted a massive 226/8 at Eden Gardens, and this time their bowlers backed it up, bowling KKR out for just 161. It was a thumping 65-run victory that exposed KKR's ongoing bowling crisis. KKR have now conceded 200+ in both their matches — a worrying trend for the two-time champions.

MATCH 7 — CSK vs PBKS · Apr 3, Chennai

Result: PBKS 210/5 beat CSK 209/5 by 5 wickets (8 balls remaining)

Another 200+ chase — this time at Chepauk! Ayush Mhatre roared back to form with 73 off 43 for CSK, and Sarfaraz Khan's rapid 32 off 12 helped CSK post 209/5. But PBKS were relentless. Priyansh Arya set the tone with a blistering 39 off just 11 balls, Prabsimran Singh contributed 43, and Shreyas Iyer sealed it with 50 off 29.

CSK have now lost 6 consecutive home matches — their worst home streak ever.

MATCH 8 — DC vs MI · Apr 4, Delhi

Result: DC 164/4 beat MI 162/6 by 6 wickets (11 balls remaining)

Sameer Rizvi struck again — this time with a stunning 90 runs to power DC to their second win. MI's 162/6 never looked enough on a Delhi pitch that offered true bounce. Pathum Nissanka chipped in with 44 as DC cantered home. Rizvi now has 160 runs in 2 innings — comfortably the most in IPL 2026 so far.

MATCH 9 — GT vs RR · Apr 4, Ahmedabad

Result: RR 210 beat GT 204 — RR won by 6 runs

The game of the week! RR defended 210 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in a last-ball thriller. Ravi Bishnoi was the hero with a match-turning 4-wicket haul, while B. Sudharsan fought valiantly for GT but fell short. RR moved to the top of the table with a league-best NRR of +2.233.
